Susan G. Komen 3-Day

This site has been modified from a fundraising site for my sister's medical bills to one helping my mother and her good friend raise money in her memory. Tina Marie Velez passed away on Friday, November 19, 2010 after battling Stage IV breast cancer for more than two years. She was in the arms of her husband Paul with her mother and sister (me) by her side. To read her full story, please visit the blog I wrote that followed her battles: Tina's Elevator: Chronicle of a Strong Woman's Ups and Downs

Our mother Terry Zeimetz and her friend Kimberly Ellis, a two-time breast cancer survivor, are doing the 3-Day Susan G. Komen walk in Dallas on November 4-6, 2011 in memory of Tina. Each participant must raise $2300 in order to take part in the annual event. Because mom has to buy a plane ticket and they need to stay at a hotel the night before, they actually need to raise about $5200. Terry has met the required goal so it would be most helpful to visit Kimberly's personal 3 Day page to donate there. Anything helps.

Our friend Aaron Brungot is a local racecar driver at the Thunderhill Raceway in Kyle near Austin, TX. Aaron went above and beyond organizing a fundraiser at the track, painting his #50 car pink, including 500 pink ribbons where people can sign the names of loved ones affected by breast cancer. With Tina's initials on the hood of his car, he won his final race. We sold T-shirts and were the grand marshalls at one of the races announcing "Start your engines!". We are selling commemerative T-Shirts for only $15.
